FLOOD warnings remain in place in Bewdley, where the town’s bridge has been closed.

Roads have been closed and bus services disrupted across Wyre Forest as rain and wind continued to batter the district over night.

The Environment Agency put up flood barriers along the River Severn at Bewdley on both sides, including at Beales Corner.

Crews from Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service assisted the agency this morning to pump overspill water on Stourport Road back into the river.

EA spokesman Dave Throup said the river at Bewdley was at its peak this morning but warned more rises were expected later in the week.

Bewdley’s police safer neighbourhood team tweeted: “Bridge closed due to dangerous rising water levels! Take care when driving near to rivers/brookes/fords and plan alternative routes.”

A mesasge on the Environment Agency website warned: “The following roads could be affected by flooding - The B4195 Stourport Road at Ricketts Place, Bewdley. The B4194 at Ribsford near Bewdley.

“The B456 and access to Bewdley Bridge. The road to Lickhill Manor and Riverside North, Bewdley.”

Worcestershire County Council added Lincomb Lane in Stourport was also closed due to a fallen tree.

The following Wyre Forest bus services have also been affected by the flooding:
