EMERGENCY service organisations coordinating Worcestershire's flood response have discussed contingency plans for dealing with the situation.

The Worcestershire Silver Tactical Group met this evening to discuss flooding across Worcestershire - including Wyre Forest where Bewdley bridge remains closed.

The group is made up of the Environment Agency, Worcestershire county and district councils, Public Health England, Worcestershire Health and Care Trust, Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service, West Midlands Ambulance Service and West Mercia Police.

The county has contingency flood plans in place and it is the task of this group to make decisions and put these plans into action.

Advice and updates can be found on each of the agencies websites which members of the public are encouraged to keep checking.

Group chairman, spt Ivan Powell, said: "The public are encouraged to think carefully about necessity of journeys and to allow more time for those that must be made.

"Parents and carers should check on the county council and schools websites to check for any disruption to schooling.

"Please be assured the position is under constant review and we are committed to ensure that we return to a position of normality as soon as possible."

Check The Shuttle website throughout tomorrow for any information regarding Wyre Forest school closures, bus or road disruptions.
