A PRESENTATION evening was a roaring success as Kidderminster and District Lions handed out cash to good causes.

The event, at Kidderminster Victoria Cricket Club, saw Lions club president Linda Cross present cheques totalling £2,300 to clubs and organsisations that helped with the Lions' Father Christmas tours leading up to Christmas in Kidderminster and Stourport.

Beneficiaries included Wilden Village Youth Football, Wyre Forest Phoenix FC, Kidderminster Lions FC, Stourport Cricket Club, Kidderminster Victoria Cricket Club, Kidderminster Central District Rangers, Kidderminster Youth Cafe and Samurai Judo Club.

Lions club members keeping a close eye on the river at Bewdley, as the hope to run the postponed New Year's Day duck race on Easter Monday.

The Lions ran the duck race last year at Easter because of high river levels that new year but that did not stop people from entering and it is hoped that this year will be as successful as last year, with more than 800 ducks entered.

Plans are now well advanced for the annual raft race on Sunday, May 4 which, this year, will be from Bewdley to Stourport, river permitting.
