RABBIT owners can hop along to an annual event where the animals will take centre stage.

The fourth North Worcestershire Amateur Rabbit Show takes place at Kidderminster Town Hall on the morning of Saturday, March 22.

It includes categories such as best rescued rabbit, longest ears and best bonded pair, which will be judged by the Mayor of Kidderminster, John Campion and Mayoress, Sally Chambers.

The event will be attended by representatives of Fat Fluffs Rabbit Rescue and Rehome, who will be on hand to give advice on rabbit welfare to current and potential owners as well as provide activities for the children.

The charity operates across the West Midlands and has rehomed more than 1,000 rabbits since it was set up in 2008. Vets from Vale Veterinary Group will be also on hand to give free health checks.

Organiser of the event, Julian Phillips, said: “I am pleased to be able to hold the rabbit show for a fourth consecutive year. The previous shows have been well received by those in attendance. We had a good attendance last year despite there being snowfall on the day.

" As well as the competitions, the emphasis of the show is to encourage good practice and educate about rabbit welfare. Rabbits are Britain’s third most popular pet but, unfortunately, they are still the most neglected.

"Non-rabbit owners are also welcome to attend, as we have a category for Best Cuddly Toy Rabbit.”
