SHOPPERS can enjoy free parking in Stourport and Bewdley this week.
Both towns remain open for business, despite the ongoing closure of Bewdley bridge as a result of the recent high river levels.
The bridge will remain closed until the water levels drop to where there is no threat to properties and the extended barriers at Beales corner can come down.
All Wyre Forest District Council pay and display machines in Stourport and Bewdley will be free until Sunday.
Car park users will still need to stick to the rules of the car park and park within the bays for the allotted time.
Conservative John Campion, Leader of Wyre Forest District Council, said: “We know that businesses need support at this time and we are doing everything we can to help.
"It is important that we get the message out that our towns and business centres are open despite the difficulties and we hope our free parking offer will encourage people into the centres.
"It is important that everyone remains alert to the river levels and that children and young people take extra care when out and about.”
