CASH from Stourport Carnival funds has taken an appeal for a new scanner at Kidderminster Hospital closer to its total.

Organisers of the annual event boosted the Kidderminster Hospitals League of Friends’ Scanner Appeal by donating £1,000.

The cash was raised at last year’s extravaganza and has taken the £125,000 Shuttle- backed appeal total to more than £105,000.

The cash will go towards a new scanner for the Bewdley Road hospital and building work to replace the old model.

Carnival Queen Kellie Homer visited the hospital to see the new scanner, and handed over the cheque to the League of Friends.

More than 8,000 examinations on almost 5,000 people have been undertaken on the new scanner since it went in last April.

Tina Wooldridge, CT superintendent radiographer, said: “I would like to thank all staff involved with CT patients.”

Peter Picken, of the League of Friends, added: “The appeal has now reached over £105,000 and we are appealing to the community to continue their support.”

People can make a donation to the Scanner Appeal by calling the League of Friends on 01562 67653.

Cheques can be made payable to Kidderminster Hospitals League of Friends, and sent to Cadisha Brown, The Shuttle, 6 Towers Buildings, Blackwell Street, Kidderminster, DY10 2DY.
