A MAN has appeared in court charged with wounding a security guard, who sustained serious head injuries, in Kidderminster.

The 51-year-old security guard was airlifted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham with head injuries after an incident at Marks and Spencer at Weavers Wharf at about 11am on Thursday last week. He is in a stable condition.

Michael Joseph Williams, 29, of no fixed address, was charged with wounding and six offences of theft totalling £674 worth of clothing from Marks and Spencer, plus one charge of theft of a pellet magazine worth £80 from the CB Radio and Gun shop, Comberton Hill.

He appeared at Worcester Magistrates' Court on Saturday and was remanded in custody to appear at Worcester Crown Court on June 9 for a plea and directions hearing.
