THE Rotary Club of Stourport has made history by inducting its first two female members.

Angela Chipp and Barbara Sara were welcomed into the club by acting president Don Giles at a special lunch event.

The Rotary Club of Stourport already has one female member, Maureen Cobb, who joined from Droitwich but this is the first time it has inducted its own female members.

The movement is traditionally seen as a male-only organisation with women usually joining its sister group, the Inner Wheel.

After a toast, Mr Giles read the aims of Rotary and the Rotary four way test before handing over to secretary Brian Young and Ms Cobb to present the two new members with their plaques, Rotary Wheel badge and paper work.

Both new members were complimented on their professional careers and the time they had spent doing volunteer work.

If anyone is interested in joining the Rotary Club of Stourport, call Mr Giles on 01299 823106.
