A LORRY driver from Kidderminster will be hitting the road for this year's London Marathon in memory of his father-in-law.

Keith Kane, 52, will be raising funds for the Kidderminster League of Friends and the Millbrook Suite where his father-in-law John Donovan was treated for cancer before his death last November.

It will be the 10th marathon Mr Kane has taken part in and the third time he will take on the 26 miles in the capital.

This year's race takes place on Sunday, April 13.

Mr Kane said: "John spent many a day having treatment at the Millbrook Suite where he was cared for with the upmost respect by all staff members, who he came to regard as his friends.

"His treatment for cancer was greatly aided by the support of Kidderminster League of Friends who are a local charity and raise much needed money for our hospital."

Mr Kane, a driver for Nightfreight, said he hoped to complete the course in three hours and 30 minutes and raise more than £800 for his chosen cause.

Since 2007, Mr Kane has raised more than £10,000 for charities including Kemp Hospice and research into Arthritis and Leukaemia.
