SHROPSHIRE'S first cycling festival for adults and young people will take place this summer in Cleobury Mortimer.
The event, hosted by Step-Out MTB Coaching, part of community interest company Step-Out Outdoor Learning, will feature a number of activities for a variety of skill levels throughout the day on Saturday, June 7.
As part of the festival, Step-Out and Urban Fitness FB will be holding a 50-mile on-road Sportive.
Starting from Lacon Childe School in Cleobury Mortimer, the circular route will take in spectacular views of the south Shropshire countryside.
Riders will tackle a climb up Clee Hill and on the descent, the route takes a scenic tour through villages on country lanes towards Bitterley, near Ludlow, before turning up towards Bridgnorth, Silvington and Stottesdon, then across to Highley before heading back towards Cleobury Mortimer.
Riders will be supported by a well-stocked feed station at Farlow Primary School in Cleobury Mortimer at the halfway point.
The festival will also feature a mobile shop from Ludlow company Pearce Cycles, a chance to take the latest mountain and road bikes for a spin on a test course and Bewdley Outdoors will be showcasing their cycling gear.
Step-Out MTB Coaching will also be holding various competitions throughout the day such as a ‘track-stand’ competition and a head-to-head tyre and tube change race.
There will also be taste sessions on the Keiser M3 spin bikes and short 20 minute training sessions.
Younger riders will have the chance to have coaching sessions on a small dual slalom course.
The festival takes place between 8.30am and 3.30pm.
