IT WILL be a triple celebration at a Kidderminster nursery when it toasts its 25th anniversary along with the birthday of one of its managers, who is also retiring on the same day.
Kiddies Day Nursery will be marking its milestone on Thursday with a party week.
Janice Parkes, manager of the Stourport nursery, will be retiring after being with the nursery since it opened 25 years ago.
She started off working at the Kidderminster nursery before moving to the Stourport site.
Parents and children who remember Miss Parkes are invited to visit her at the Stourport nursery during the 25th anniversary celebrations, which will run from next Monday until Friday to wish her well.
Denise Hodgetts, owner, said: “With the stress of opening my very first business, I completely overlooked the fact that Janice was also celebrating her birthday on our opening day.”
She added: “She really did set the standard – ‘quality staff by qualified nursery nurses’ is part of our mission statement and is practised to this day.
“So many children have attended, grown and moved on to school under her watchful eye.
“They have even returned to nursery for work experience, student placements and finally with their own children, entrusting them to Janice’s care after remembering their own experience at nursery."
