A CONTRUCTION company based in Stourport has appointed a new managing director.

Bouygues UK, owners of Worcester Road-based Thomas Vale Construction, announced businessman Craig Tatton had taken up the job, succeeding former managing director Gary Mail, who had recently announced he was standing down to "pursue new challenges".

In his role Mr Tatton, who has worked in the construction sector for more than 25 years, will take full responsibility for the day-to-day operation and future direction of the business. He will report to Bouygeus UK chairman Madani Sow and is a member of the firm's leadership team with immediate effect.

Mr Tatton, speaking of his appointment, said: "Thomas Vale is a company which has been known to me for many years due to its award-winning projects and strong business ethos. I am very proud to have the opportunity now to build upon the solid foundations of [chairman Tony Hyde's] leadership and I look forward to working together with our Bouygues UK colleagues to achieve our goals.

"My primary focus over the coming months is to enhance our service offering to our clients, focusing on our leadership, skills and experience of the Thomas Vale teams to drive business growth and re-position Thomas Vale at the forefront of industry leaders."

Mr Hyde, who is also corporate responsibility director for Bouygeus UK, will continue his role in working on client relationships and business development across both the private and public sectors to support the firm.

During his career, Mr Tatton has held a number of senior positions at businesses such as Laing, Miller, ISG and Willmott Dixon.

Mr Sow said: "I am extremely pleased to welcome Craig to both the Thomas Vale and Bouygues UK team. His leadership qualities, extensive industry knowledge and proven business plan delivery will continue to enhance the performance of Thomas Vale and help us maintain our market-leading position."
