Bewdley springs into action for Bank Holiday weekend

BEWDLEY will be coming to life for its annual Spring Fair featuring a number of events and attractions across Bank Holiday weekend.

Visitors and Bewdley residents will have the chance to explore the town's museum, Jubilee Gardens, Load Street and Severnside South on Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday.

The Local Produce Market will be in Load Street on Sunday, with craft and food stalls taking a stand on Severnside South on both days.

Monday will see the popular fourth annual Bewdley Spring Salad Challenge return and the Lady in White will be appearing around the town.

Collective 43, a multi-instrumental band playing a mix of blues, swing, dub and funk and Strumpit playing Gypsy Jazz will entertain passers-by throughout the weekend and the Severn Area Rescue Association will provide river rescue demonstrations.

Children will have the opportunity to try out the Victorian horses fun fair ride in Bewdley Museum where this year, events take on a horticultural theme with stalls in the gardens and flower-arranging competitions and workshops with music from the Ridge Top Mountain Boys on Monday.

New to the programme this year is the Bewdley to Arley raft race organised by Kidderminster and District Lions which will set off from the steps of the Rowing Club and traditional Maypole dancing will be performed by the pupils of St Anne’s Primary School.

The Bewdley Brewery will have open days for visitors to see the brewing process and the riverside Mug House will have their annual beer festival from tomorrow through to Monday, offering 20 different ales and ciders, a barbecue and live music.

There will also be will a series of walks around the town on Sunday and Monday lead by the Civic Society.

Free parking is available on both days at Bewdley High School, in Stourport Road, from 10am to 5pm.
