PLAYERS from Kidderminster Harriers helped deliver chocolate eggs to the town's foodbank.

Visitors and customers to the O2 store on the High Street dropped off more than 60 chocolate eggs over the Easter period and Harriers players and staff, including manager Gary While and defender Mickey Demetriou were on hand to deliver the goodies to Baxter Church-based Kidderminster Foodbank last Friday.

Foodbank co-ordinator Maureen Lewis, who announced the number of people using the service had nearly doubled during its second year of operation to more than 3,500, said volunteers liked being able to put extra treats into food parcels for families with children.

O2 assistant store leader, Natasha Jones, said: "We would like to thank everyone that helped us collect more than 60 eggs for the local foodbank. We have been overwhelmed by people's generosity in supporting us to achieve our goal."

Harriers commercial manager Mark Searl added: "As a football club we like to get involved in the community and we are happy to support stocking up the foodbank."

The Shuttle’s Blackwell Street office is a collection point for the foodbank, which opens at Baxter Church in Kidderminster town centre on Mondays and Wednesdays from 12.30pm until 3.30pm and Fridays between 9.30am and 3.30pm.
