Public praised for response to Cookley sex attacker image
3:09pm Friday 2nd May 2014 in News
POLICE have thanked members of the public for coming forward with information following the release of an artist’s impression of a man who committed a serious sexual assault on a canal towpath in Cookley.
A new poster featuring the image is about to be distributed in the Cookley and Wolverley area and there has already been a good response since the image was circulated on Wednesday.
Detective Inspector Dave Williams said: “We have had an encouraging response since the image was publicised and a number of people have come forward with names and other information.
"Our officers will be following up on all of this. However if anyone else knows something or has suspicions about an individual they should contact us with their concerns and not assume we might hear it from someone else. Even small details can be important to an investigation like this.”
The attack took place on a woman on the canal towpath just off Bridge Road by the Cookley tunnel between 10.10am and 10.30am on Monday.
The offender was white with a pale complexion, aged about 20, not more than 6 feet tall, of slim to medium build and had messy dark brown hair.
He was wearing a cream or grey, short sleeved T-shirt with the ‘Bench’ logo in large white lettering across the chest.
He was also wearing black Adidas tracksuit bottoms with white stripes down the outside of the legs and white, lace-up trainers.
Anyone with information should call Kidderminster CID on the non-emergency number 101, quoting incident reference 172-S-280414.
Details may also be passed on anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 or at .crimestoppers-uk.org
