WYRE Forest Citizens Advice will be holding a volunteers open house week to encourage people to join their team.

The event, being held at their office in New Street in Kidderminster, will take place from Sunday, June 1 to Saturday, June 7.

Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) is a charity offering free, independent advice to people on their rights and responsibilities.

A spokesman for Wyre Forest CAB said: "At Citizens Advice in the Wyre Forest we have a brilliant team of volunteers. There are very few paid workers at CAB, most of the staff are volunteers who gladly give their time to help others.

"In these difficult economic times our workload is increasing and our services are in more demand than ever.

"Maybe you could spare a few hours a week to get involved. It’s rewarding, challenging and fun working with the great team at the Wyre Forest Bureau."

The open house event is being held in conjunction with the nationwide Volunteers' Week to say thank you to the 20 million people in the UK who volunteer each year giving 100 million hours to their community each week.

It is estimated that the economic value of volunteering is worth more than £40 billion to the economy, which includes 30,000 magistrates, 15,000 special constables in the police force and volunteers in the NHS, the Coastguard Rescue Service and Mountain Rescue Service and Royal National Lifeboat Institution.
