DINERS at a charity lunch in Wyre Forest raised £1,400 for a leading cancer charity.

The district’s Cancer Research UK committee raised the cash at the annual event at the Granary Hotel and Restaurant, Shenstone, last Wednesday.

Guest speaker was Professor Malcolm Taylor, deputy head of the School of Cancer Sciences at Birmingham University.

He talked about his own CRUK-funded research, gave an update on recent local research highlights and took questions from the floor.

Wyre Forest Cancer Research UK Committee chairman Peter Tomlinson said: “ I felt the buzz around the room was stronger than it has ever been and I thank all those who supported it.”
