VOTERS are heading to the polls today to elect councillors and MEPs.

A third of Wyre Forest District Council seats are up for grabs, while in the European Parliament, West Midlands voters will send seven candidates to Brussels and Strasbourg.

The Shuttle will have full coverage of the council election results which are due to be announced tomorrow. We will be tweeting live up to the minute and there will be full results and reports on our website, including on our special results section, from about 1pm.

The European Parliament results will be revealed on Sunday.

Nice to read today that the Defence Secretary Phil Hammond believes UKIP voters are only lending their votes to the party and will return to the Tories at the next General Election. Well, I've got news for him: a) not all UKIP voters were Tory before they voted UKIP, and (b) many people I know are already saying that, having seen the results in these elections, it's only encouraged them to vote UKIP at the GE. And on a local level, with an all out WF election next year, a similar vote to this week will place UKIP very strongly indeed to challenge the Tories and Labour.

UKIP is the single most disappointing and ridiculous political mistake of the last thirty years. If we continue to embrace the right wing we will be in the same situation as Germany in 1938. The French are also doing the same. That's two of the five permanent members of the UN security Council along with Russia China and the gun toting US we are asking for World War 3. Anyone who votes UKIP in the general election is a moron.

Please keep this up Dave. Deriding UKIP over the last month has really helped the cause and has promoted the party so much. And don't forget to add the 'fascist' and 'racist' buzzwords as well. Just imagine what another 12 months of this will do. UKIP will be up to 50% support with your support with ease. You might also like to add the word cretins to your insults as well. All those many thousands who voted UKIP in the local and European elections this last week will be delighted with your contribution.

I think poppasmurf thinks he knows best. Everyone vote UKIP. Please. We should all be right wing because then the Tories don't get in. *rolls eyes* Extremism creates change but how much change are wanting? When you have a lunatic like Farage in charge? be careful what you wish for? People with sense voted elsewhere. UKIP is a slippery slope.

More please Dave. Keep it up. With help from people like you, UKIP will be controlling both the local council and government this time next year.

So glad that UKIP has won! Wyre Forest may be a target seat for UKIP next year...

People need to stop insulting UKIP. Being concerned about mass immigration is not racist. Do people want the greenbelt in Wyre Forest built on? We are a small island!

The result shows the three main parties have NOT listened to the public and addressed concerns about Europe etc.
A real wake-up call for mainstream left and right respectively.
Clegg looks like a dead man walking
Im not really a UKIP fan but its certainly made politics interesting again!

I agree that they've shaken up politics very nicely, and that's welcome. But UKIP don't actually have any sensible answers to what are very complex issues facing the country. And they lack any real positive policies - it's all about banning, cancelling, withdrawing, scrapping and stopping. You can't run the country in reverse gear. And, despite what many UKIP supporters think, things weren't better in the old days.

Nope, but the near constant stream of candidates and elected UKIP politicians being outed for racist stuff from Twitter/Facebook is something of a cause for concern eh? Not to mention some anti-disabled rants.

Farage is an interesting political character, there's no-one else of note in the party, except the aforementioned social media loons.

Btw - still the policy to slash incapacity benefit/ESA to JSA levels? I wonder how many of your voters are aware of that. I know of one IB claimant who wasn't when he voted for UKIP.
