Care home residents celebrate Fruity Friday
RESIDENTS at a care home in Stourport added a new flavour to their five-a-day as they took part in World Cancer Research Fund’s Fruity Friday.
The cancer prevention scheme sees people across the country add one more portion of fruit to their daily intake to reduce the risk of developing cancer.
To show their support for the scheme, residents at Ravenhurst Residential Care Home sampled fruits they had never tried before from around the globe.
Fruits that were offered to the residents included lychees and physalis fruit, a glossy orange fruit similar to a small cherry tomato.
Carla Siwicki, the home’s activity leader, said: “Our residents certainly had their five-a-day and absolutely loved sampling the different fruits.
“Many of them had never tried a lychee before and really loved the sweetness – and had a giggle trying to peel them.”
