MORE than 60 people attended the opening of a charity's new workshop in Kidderminster.

Blueprint Training and Enterprise’s workshop, in Marlpool Lane, was opened last Saturday by Mark Garnier, MP for Wyre Forest.

John Buckle, parent and fundraiser for the charity, said: “It’s fantastic to finally have the new workshop in place.

“We used to hold the activities in the garden but when the weather wasn’t so great we had to move inside but now we have something that will be used whatever the weather, 52 weeks of the year.

“It’s a huge addition not just for the organisation but for the members, who are the most important part of it all.”

Set up in June, 2013, the charity provides adults with learning disabilities with interesting and affordable training and vocational activities.

Mr Buckle thanked Mr Garnier, who carried out the ceremonial cutting of the ribbon.

“He was brilliant," he said. "He spent over an hour chatting to every single person that had turned up, whether they were members, friends, parents or trustees. He seemed so interested about everyone’s lives and why they use the centre.”

The organisation currently runs eight sessions during weekdays between 9.30am and noon and 1pm and 3.30pm, except Thursdays.

Each session costs £10 and includes arts and crafts, sewing, woodwork, construction and horticulture.
