A STOURPORT construction firm has launched a graduate recruitment programme after reporting a significantly increased workload.

Thomas Vale Construction, which is at Lombard House in Worcester Road, has opened up an extensive graduate recruitment programme because of the enlarged workload and company expansion.

A company spokeswoman said opportunities existed across all disciplines traditionally linked to construction such as design, quantity surveying, planning, estimating, on-site project delivery and those which are not, including human resources, marketing, public affairs, sustainability, training and development and bid management.

She added the opportunity arose following the acquisition of the Worcester Road, Stourport, firm by French company Bouygues Construction – one of the world’s largest construction firms.

Tony Hyde, chairman of Thomas Vale, said: “There are not many businesses in our industry or indeed in our region in Wyre Forest or the West Midlands, which can boast the financial credentials Thomas Vale can now, we are part of a global business.

“Some major projects including the Education Funding Agency framework, totalling £2 billion, and the historical Wedgwood Redevelopment Project, means that our expansion of fresh, young talent is more critical than ever and we want the very best talent that the region has to offer.”

Claire Fell, regional human resources manager for Thomas Vale, added: “The opportunities for mobility, in the UK and across the world and fast-track progression, mean that we can offer long-term career choices, not short-term fixes.

“Having launched our new programme recently, we are committed to ensuring that graduates and trainees are fully integrated into the new business model. The prospects that now exist ensure that new team members can have a gratifying career in a diverse and rewarding industry.”

The launch of the programme comes a month after Thomas Vale announced the appointment of a new managing director, Craig Tatton..
