EMPLOYEES of Kidderminster’s Midcounties Co-operative branch offered a helping hand to the town’s District Youth Trust during the renovations of the trust’s headquarters.

Volunteers from the company’s food, pharmacy and travel divisions spent a day helping to remove bushes and shrubbery from the land surrounding Kidderminster Youth House to allow better access during the renovations.

Phil Price, deputy manager of the Kidderminster co-operative food store, in Franche Road, said: “We were delighted to volunteer our time to help the team at Kidderminster Youth House with its ongoing redevelopment.

“Working within the community is one of the co-operatives principles on which our foundations are based.”

The work by the co-operative was carried out as part of a volunteer system which entitles employees at the co-operative to take up to three days a year leave to get involved in volunteer projects.

Kidderminster Youth House is home to a variety of community groups for young people.

All proceeds from its services are invested back into youth services in Kidderminster, including work throughout the community, one-on-one support and anger management sessions.

Mr Price added: “Kidderminster and District Youth Trust is an organisation which does an enormous amount of great work with young people in our community, and we are pleased to do our bit to help this to continue.”
