A 48-YEAR-old man who tried to fool Kidderminster magistrates with a forged letter from an alleged employer has been jailed for four months.

John Boguniecki, of Sutton Park Road, Kidderminster, pleaded guilty at Worcester Crown Court to attempting to pervert the course of justice.

Paul Whitfield, prosecuting, said Boguniecki produced the letter in an attempt to avoid points for a driving offence which would have made him eligible for disqualification under the totting up procedure.

But a police check on the details of a supposed employer revealed that the letter was a fake.

David Ollivere, in mitigation, said it was an immature attempt at deception. The foolish endeavour had landed Boguniecki in substantial trouble and had left him without a home and a job.

Judge Richard Rundell said any attempt to deceive a court with a forged letter was extremely serious and merited immediate custody.
