Carers Week backed by Cleobury Mortimer's MP

A UK-wide campaign to recognise and celebrate the work of the country's 6.5 million carers is being backed by Cleobury Mortimer's MP.

Conservative Philip Dunne has given his support to Carers Week, which also seeks to improve the lives of carers and the people they care for.

Mr Dunne said: “Carers Week gives us a great opportunity to recognise and appreciate the work that carers do in Shropshire.

"With an increasing population and a higher than average number of elderly people in Shropshire, the role of carers will become increasingly important for local people with physical and mental disabilities and it is right that we recognise and support those who care for others.

"There are over 34,000 carers in Shropshire, including more than 12,000 full-time carers, who perform a truly selfless task, and we should be immensely grateful to them all.

"Carers Week is a great way of raising awareness of how caring can affect all of us and the support and information available both for carers and those who need vital care.”
