A KIDDERMINSTER man is taking on the endurance challenge of a lifetime in memory of his father-in-law, who died from cancer.

Pablo Requejo will take part in Mountain Mayhem, a 24-hour cycle ride through Gatcombe Park, Gloucestershire, this weekend to raise money for Kemp Hospice.

He said: “I have chosen this charity because my father-in-law Mario Mazzone sadly passed away five years ago due to terminal cancer.

“Upon hearing the news our lives were very quickly turned upside down and we knew things would never be the same again. Through this difficult and emotional period of time our whole family found help and advice from Kemp Hospice.

“Mario found great comfort in the regular visits from the nurses and could rest easier with the support and knowledge they gave our family in a very difficult, life-changing time.”

Alice McMahon, a fundraiser for Kemp Hospice, said “It is great to get support like this from Pablo.

“He has taken on a massive challenge and has raised a lot of money for the hospice already, which we are very grateful for.

“Everyone here at Kemp Hospice wants to wish him the best of luck.”

Mr Requejo has already raised £425 and further donations can be made at justgiving.com/pabloReq or by texting PABS60 and the amount to 70070.

Kemp Hospice provides clinical, emotional and spiritual care, with practical support to people in Wyre Forest with life-limiting illnesses. It also supports those who have been bereaved.

The hospice needs to raise £940,000 annually, the majority of which comes from voluntary donations, to continue to provide the services.
