A TEAM of seven past and present Baxter College students aim to climb Snowdon, Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis in 24 hours.

Daniel and Nathan Hunter, Aaron Shuck, Daniel Jackson, Michael Pugh, Evan Jones and Joe Rees will take on the national three peaks challenge, which involves reaching the tops of the highest peaks in Wales, England and Scotland on Saturday, June 28 and Sunday, June 29.

The group will raise funds for Kemp Hospice and have already collected donations of almost £500.

Daniel Hunter said: “We are all friends from school and wanted to do something as part of a team.

“We thought the Three Peaks would be a good challenge and would give us a chance to raise money for a worthwhile, local cause.”

The students have received sponsorship from two local companies, PVC Contracts and AiP Catering.

Paul Vernon, of PVC Contracts, said: “We are just celebrating 25 years in business and we have a good relationship with Baxter College.

“We think it’s a worthy local cause, with the money going to help local people.”

David Weller, of AiP Catering, added: “We have been connected with the school for many years and we wanted to support the boys.”

The Three Crowns and Sugar Loaf pub in Kidderminster has also helped by displaying collection boxes and sponsorship forms.

Alice McMahon, a fundraiser at Kemp Hospice, said: “It is great to see a group of young people get together to take on a challenge, with all the money they raise helping to support their local community hospice.

“Everyone at Kemp would like to say a big thank you to the boys and we all wish them luck with the challenge.”
