THE Prime Minister David Cameron visited The Shuttle during a whistle-stop tour of the Midlands today.

Mr Cameron toured the Newsquest Midlands newsroom speaking to reporters about this week’s edition of the paper.

Newsquest Midlands South group editor Paul Walker gave Mr Cameron a tour of the newsroom.

He said: "It was an honour to have the Prime Minister visit our newsroom and see our operation for himself.

“He was interested in the work that we do and how we continue to cover the areas which our newspapers represent to the best of our abilities.”

The Kidderminster Shuttle, Halesowen News, Stourbridge News, Dudley News, Redditch Advertiser, Bromsgrove Advertiser and the Droitwich Advertiser are all based at the Stourbridge offices of Newsquest.

Mr Cameron said: “It is great to see up close the work that local newspapers do in the community and a pleasure to see such a thriving newsroom.”

Mr Cameron was in the Midlands to announce the new Government-backed Growth Fund, which aims to boost the regional economy.
