A KIDDERMINSTER social club is holding a fun day to mark the refurbishment of its function room.

St George’s Social Club, in Radford Avenue, is also celebrating its 40th anniversary year and will give the money raised from the day to the Royal British Legion.

Featuring in the fun day, on Saturday from 2pm, will be a variety of tombolas, face painting, refreshments, stalls and the chance to win free room hire for a day.

The club is also holding a cash raffle with prizes of £75, £50, £25, £10 and £5, as well as hosting a magician who will be performing at the fun day between 4pm and 6pm.

As part of the refurbishment, the club has installed new tables and chairs and new flooring and has been redecorated throughout.

Sue Mansell-Nicklin, club treasurer and entertainment officer, said: “We have spent over £10,000 on the whole room so that it appeals to all types of functions, giving it great versatility.”

To mark the fun day and recent refurbishment, the club is offering half-price membership this weekend.

Mrs Mansell-Nicklin said: “Being a Member of St George’s Social Club entitles you to use the club facilities any time for yourself and your children. We have a great family atmosphere."
