STOURPORT shopkeepers and office workers are going "The Full Monty" for charity and it is all in the best possible taste.

Staff from 26 companies and community groups in the town are stripping off and posing Calendar Girls style, with their modesty protected by strategically placed objects.

The images - captured by local photographer Rachel Francis - will appear on two 2015 calendars, to go on sale later this year, to raise money for charities, Mentor Link at Stourport and Kemp Hospice, Kidderminster.

The Stourport Gets Naked for Charity project is the brainchild of Tina Button, owner of the Finishin' Touch beauty salon in Bridge Street, who roped in her friend Mrs Francis, managing director of For All Seasons Photography, of Steatite Way.

They hope to raise around £30,000 to split between Mentor Link, which supports children and young people across Worcestershire, by providing them with a volunteer mentor.

“It’s been so much fun and is a great way of getting the whole community together,” said Mrs Francis, 43, who diplomatically blanks out the windows of the businesses for the photo shoots, puts robes on the models, makes them feel comfortable and poses them tastefully behind items that will spare their blushes.

“A lot of people have been very nervous to start with but we make sure everyone is happy with the photographs before they are chosen for the calendar," said Mrs Francis.

A total of about 100 people feature in the calendar pictures and businesses taking part are chipping into the £1,700 production cost.

Among the businesses taking part are Nicky's Flowers, Spectacle Warehouse, All Occasions, Riverside chip shop, the Wheatsheaf pub and Blossoms Tea Rooms. The Monday Night Group, which stages pantomimes at the Civic Hall for charity, has also taken part.

Miss Button, 35, said: “The local spirit is electric and everyone networking together is really starting to pay off.

“If we can all help by sponsoring these brave people and help by purchasing a calendar, which will be on sale in September, then all money raised will make such a difference to these two worthy charities.”
