GREEN-fingered pupils at a Kidderminster nursery have been learning about nature by growing their own potatoes.
Children at St Oswald’s CE Primary School’s nursery have spent the past three months looking after their potatoes as well as learning about what plants and other life need to grow.
The children have also been creating observational drawings of the plants as they have changed over time.
Sam Goodman, nursery manager, said: “The children have watched them grow, watered them, measured them and then dug them up and taken them home for tea.
“We counted and weighed our potatoes, giving prizes to the children with the most grown as well as the heaviest ones.
“The children were very excited and there were squeals of pleasure as they found potatoes in their plant.”
Three-year-old Molly Harris grew the most potatoes with 32 and Jaden Puckerin, 4, had the heaviest potato, weighing 454g.
