RESIDENTS looking to move to affordable housing will have increased options available after Wyre Forest District Council agreed to adopt a new planning policy document.

The Affordable Housing Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) sets out guidance on how the district council’s existing affordable housing policies should be interpreted and applied.

District councillor, Conservative John Campion, cabinet member for planning and regeneration, said: “Wyre Forest District Council has an excellent record of delivering affordable housing.

“An average of 73 new affordable properties per year have been added to the housing stock between 2006/07 and 2013/14, with 165 units completed during the last year.

“Planning permission is in place for a further 158 affordable dwellings, with 103 of these already under construction.

“This means more people have the chance to access quality affordable housing in the district.”

Liberal councillor Fran Oborski said: “This is a really important document, which is very fit for purpose and was given thorough debate.”
