RAIN showers did not deter people from queuing as Bewdley Festival tickets went up for general sale on Saturday.

Customers keen to book their place in the audience for their favourite acts braved the downpours and waited in line at the town’s tourist information centre in Load Street, while the Worcester Live box office call centre was similarly inundated with interest.

Max Keen’s lecture on Alfred the Great was the only show to fully sell-out but performances by Midge Ure, Courtney Pine and Doug Scott were also very popular.

Dave Collins, press and marketing officer of Bewdley Festival, said: “Sales are off to a reassuringly great start.

“Early results show that if anyone is still thinking of buying tickets it would be wise to act now”

Tickets can be purchased from Worcester Live on 01905 611427 or in person at Bewdley tourist information centre.
