GREENFINGERED Wyre Forest residents have the chance to view all that Bewdley and District Horticultural Society has to offer at its annual show.

The Flower, Vegetable and Floral Art Show will take place at St George’s Hall in Bewdley on tomorrow (August 9) from 10.30am.

The society, which was founded in 1854 and has been affiliated to the Royal Horticultural Society since 1900, has more than 100 classes, including vegetables, flowers, herbs, domestic classes, photography, calligraphy, art, craft and children’s classes for under-16s.

The show will feature multiple competitions for the various classes, including the Bewdley Council Rose Bowl, awarded to the best exhibit.

Judging of the competition entries will take place before the show is open to the public, between 8.30am and 10am, with the produce being sold during an auction at 3pm.

The show also features cake, flower and vegetable stalls and a raffle. Refreshments will also be available throughout the day at St George’s cafe.

As part of the show Bewdley Floral Art Society will be holding an exhibition titled A Golden Celebration.

Diane Chater, one of the organisers, said: “It is an ideal time to look round a traditional local horticultural show and also a good excuse, if you haven`t been in before, to try out the refreshments on offer from St George’s Hall cafe, run by volunteers for the community.”

The date also marks the first anniversary of the £800,000 renovation of St George’s Hall, which has created a multi-purpose hub for the community.

Tickets to the show cost £1 for adults, free for children and free entry for all after 2.30pm.
