COOKLEY has been chosen by Worcestershire Highways to be part of a makeover day on Saturday.

The day involves the village being spruced up by having vegetation cut back, bushes trimmed and bus shelters cleaned.

Worcestershire County Council will be working in conjunction with Ringway to carry out the work.

Christine Martin, Wolverley and Cookley Parish councillor, said: “We are very lucky to be chosen to have this makeover day in our village.”

For more information on the makeover day, visit Cookley Sports and Social Club between 11am and 1pm on Saturday.

Too bad the villagers let it fall below recognized English village standards. Having to rely on the council to 'spruce' it up, is really apathetic disgraceful & shocking! Who'd want to live in a village like that?

Isn't this what I pay my council tax for anyway?! Why is it referred to as 'sprucing', didn't it used to be called 'maintenance'?
