CROWDS flocked to the banks of the River Severn on July 26 and 27 to cheer on competitors in the Bewdley Regatta.

The annual festival attracted a big turn-out of crews who battled it out in 600-metre, 800-metre and new sprint format races.

Mayor of Bewdley Derek Killingworth said: “There was a wonderful feeling of friendship throughout the entire weekend.

“It is one of the most important events of the year and brings people from all over the entire country to our town for the two-day event.

“The sporting competition was enjoyed by all ages with junior members of just 15 years taking part alongside veterans aged 60 plus.

“So much is owed to all those who sponsored the regatta and all those who gave their time freely to make sure the event was so successful.

“I received nothing but praise for the event from all those I met from other clubs and they said how much they looked forward to it every year.”
