SIXTEEN young people have organised a family fun day in support of Kemp Hospice.

The teenagers, who are taking part in the government-backed National Citizen Service programme, will run the event on Sunday, August 17 from 12.30pm at Stoke Prior Sports and Country Club in Bromsgrove.

There will be a dog show, live music and refreshments.

Team member Charlotte said: "This has been a great opportunity for us to do something different this summer and we are all really enjoying it.

“We have been overwhelmed by the support from local businesses and we would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who has helped us.”

The fun day, which forms part of the young peoples' social action activities, will raise vital funds for the work of Wyre Forest’s Kemp Hospice, as well as Primrose Hospice in Bromsgrove.

A charity bag-pack at the Asda store in Kidderminster has also been organised to help boost the event's fundraising total.

Alice McMahon, a fundraiser at Kemp Hospice, said: “This is a great government scheme that is getting young people personally involved in helping their local community.

“Thank you so much to the team for all the hard work they are putting in to support their local hospice.”

Kemp Hospice provides clinical, emotional and spiritual care with practical support to those in Wyre Forest with life-limiting illnesses. It also supports those that have been bereaved.

The hospice needs to raise £940,000 annually to continue to provide these services, the majority of which comes from voluntary donations and the support of the local community.
