EXAM results for A level and BTEC students at Baxter College have improved for the eighth consecutive year.

Both in academic subjects and vocational courses all the students were able to match the target grades given to them by teachers, with the majority of students exceeding them.

The school also reports that all students who applied to university gained their first choice place with many choosing to travel the length of the country.

Students have opted to study away from home as far as Southampton, London, Reading and York, and there has also been a shift in the type of further education students are continuing with.

Apprenticeships are the big winners from Baxter College, with pupils preferring to take up a role within a company rather than enter into traditional university education.

The top performing pupils this year at the school with A*s, As and Bs were Chantelle Edwards, Lily Johnson, India Preston, Susi Shelton and Darby Collins.

Dave Seddon, headteacher, said he wanted to acknowledge the tremendous support given by parents and was delighted that all the hard work by students, and their teachers had paid off.

“The majority of our students achieved their potential due to everyone pulling in the same direction,” he said.

“Long may Baxter College’s approach continue to pay huge dividends.”
