KIDDERMINSTER Valentines Choir has presented a donation of £3,000 to two charities.

The singing group, which raised the funds at a memorial concert celebrating the life of its founder Pam Cunningham, handed over the money to Kemp Hospice and Kidderminster Foodbank yesterday.

Sue Strong, a choir member, said: “They are both great charities which rely on money raised by people in the local area and we are very happy to support them.

“Pam received tremendous help from Kemp and they gave a lot of support to her family.

“She always tried to support and help others during her whole life so we are delighted to be giving something back.”

The concert, which took place at Kidderminster Town Hall in July, featured a variety of performances by the Valentines, the Kidderminster Male Choir and Gwent Police Male Voice Choir.

A number of Pam’s favourite tunes were sung, including As Long As I Have Music by Don Besig, She by Charles Aznavour and Herbert Kretzmer, and Cwm Rhondda by John Hughes, and all three choirs joined together for the finale of Youth Journey by Verdi.

Mrs Strong added: “It was an incredibly fantastic tribute to Pam. It was very moving.

“We had a full house – every seat in the house was taken and the audience were treated to a totally magical evening.

“Pam’s entire family were there and they were very moved by the whole concert as all the audience who turned up were there to honour her life.”
