STUDENTS and staff at Stourport High School and Sixth Form Centre are celebrating their “outstanding” GCSE results.

Various pupils at the school have achieved 10 or more A* and A grades with five students attaining the new A* distinction, which highlights success above the A* standard.

Staff members said they are also pleased with having 96 per cent of pupils achieving five A* to G grades, with more than 72 per cent reaching three levels of progress in English and maths.

These results include 63 per cent of students achieving a grade C or above in English and maths on first entry.

Top performer at the school was Sophie Turbutt, who achieved an A**, 13 A*s, an A and a distinction.

David Knott, headteacher, said: “I am absolutely delighted that students have been rewarded for their efforts to enable them to go onto the next stage in their education.

“There are many outstanding individual achievements, with a huge number of students achieving the highest grades, showing what can be achieved through dedication, commitment and maximum effort.

“I am very proud of all our students.”
