THE deadline for residents of Chaddesley Corbett to register to vote in the neighbourhood plan referendum being held next month has passed.

Those who are on the register of electors should have already had their poll cards delivered.

At the referendum on September 11, residents will be asked to vote yes or no to the question “Do you want Wyre Forest District Council to use the Neighbourhood Plan for Chaddesley Corbett to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?”

The vote will be held at Chaddesley Corbett Village Hall between 7am and 10pm.

Neighbourhood Plans are part of a package of measures introduced by central Government to allow communities more say in the development that takes place in their area by setting out policies to guide development.

Chaddesley Corbett’s plan has been prepared by the parish council, which has been working alongside the district council.

As part of the plan, the former school site in the village centre has been allocated for a mix of uses, including housing to meet local needs, open space and an extension to the burial ground.

It also safeguards the old grammar school building for community uses.

The deadline for new applications or amendments is 5pm today and applications for anyone wishing to vote by proxy need to be submitted by 5pm on September 3.

To register to vote online visit gov.uk/register-to-vote or for voting enquiries call 01562 732928 or email electoral@wyreforestdc.gov.uk For more information about neighbourhood plans, or to read the Chaddesley Corbett plan, visit wyreforestdc.gov.uk/neighbourhoodplanning
