BROWNIES from Stourport have been having a grand old time celebrating their centenary.

The 6th Stourport Brownies have thrown themselves into activities, including joining Birmingham girls at an event at the city's Thinktank centre.

They have also been grass sledging at the Rhydd Covert scout camp near Bewdley and sung with members of Kidderminster Trefoil Guild.

They especially loved taking charge at a brownie meeting - and telling their leaders what to do.

Their "Snowy Owl", Gill Johnson, said: "This year Brownies are celebrating 100 years and there have been many activities bringing children together to join in events.

"Children were also set challenges so that they could gain a badge to celebrate this special occasion.

"There were many ideas set in the challenges which included the community, 'You' and 'World'."

Among their activities was recycling items to give to someone else to gain pleasure from.

The children filled old wellingtons, pots and containers with flowers.

And then they took them to present to residents of the Ravenhurst Nursing Home at Burlish Cross, Stourport.
