MEMBERS and friends of Habberley Golf Club raised £1,220 for Macmillan Cancer Support by holding a coffee morning on Saturday, August 20.

The event, which included an auction of 27 ‘promises’, was organised by Sue Birch and Jackie Taylor.

Mrs Birch said: “Cancer affects every one of us one way or another and Macmillan is always there to support you in whichever way they can.”

Mrs Taylor, the club captain’s wife, added: “All of the promises we auctioned were generously donated by local businesses and individuals to which we are very grateful - especially small firms like The Cleaning Faerie, Create a Cake, Windmill Wonderland and both Kidderminster and Bewdley Pines Golf Clubs - and we received some sizeable donations too.”

Kelly Whitehouse, Macmillan’s fundraising manager for Worcestershire, said: “The world’s biggest coffee morning is a really fun event that is really easy to take part in, especially as you can tailor it to suit yourself.

“Our Macmillan friends at Habberley Golf Club held an amazing event recently and it just goes to show that with enthusiasm and support you too could have a successful event.

“The £1,220 donation generated from Habberley Golf Club’s coffee morning will enable Macmillan to support even more people affected by cancer across the Wyre Forest.”
