ACTIVITIES are being organised by The Friends of Bishops Wood for people of all ages to learn more about the earth and the latest discoveries of dinosaurs and other fossils.

As well as a range of craft and art activities, visitors to Bishops Wood Centre, in Stourport, can make their own casts of fossils and explore the site by following the dinosaur trail.

At the event, on Sunday, September, 28 between 2pm and 4.30pm, there will also be a talk about the latest research on why dinosaurs became extinct by Dr Richard Butler.

Members of Teme Valley Geology Society will be showing people how to identify the rocks of Worcestershire and will be explaining how the parish of Martley has become a world renowned site for exploring the history of the earth.

Catherine Maguire, chair of the group, said: “There is really something for people of all ages.

“Children will have the chance to create their own Jurassic landscapes complete with dinosaurs, while their relatives can search for and make their own fossils which they can take home in special treasure boxes.

“Families can follow the dinosaur trail and hunt for dinosaur footprints and the adults and older children will be fascinated by the talks on dinosaurs and geology.”

Refreshments will be available throughout the afternoon, with a requested donation for the event of £4 for adults and £2 for children.
