AN ANIMAL rights group has thanked Kidderminster shoppers for their support after they raised more than £160 for a national protection charity.

Wyre Forest Vegans and Veggies took to the streets of the town centre on Saturday (September 13) raising cash for Animal Aid, which protects animals from cruelty.

The group’s communications officer and street collector, Ronald Lee, said the amount raised, a total of £161.02, proved the public were against animal cruelty.

He said: "We are delighted with the very generous response of people in Kidderminster, who donated a total of £161.92.

"It goes to show that most members of the public are opposed to cruelty to animals and are happy to help animal protection organisations.

"People were also keen to take Animal Aid literature, such as information on how they can help protect animals and vegan and vegetarian recipe booklets.”

As well as raising money for national causes, the group also fundraises for local campaigns and promotes a humane lifestyle and diet free from animal products.
