SHINING through to support a children's hospice, staff from the Kidderminster branch of recruitment firm First Personnel will be taking part in the second annual Lantern Walk.

Supporting Acorns Children's Hospice's event on October 11, the Midlands-based firm has sponsored them with a £7,500 donation and will be entering its staff members for the walk which will take place at the Cannon Hill Park in Birmingham event site for the second year running.

The firm is also providing volunteers to help and will be having a stand on the day on site in a bid to raise more cash.

Matthew Reddy, managing director of First Personnel, said: “We are very proud once again to have the opportunity to sponsor the Acorns Children’s Hospice Lantern Walk this year.

“Our staff and clients are really looking forward to the event to help raise vital funds for Acorns, on what will be a fantastic day out for all the family.”

Acorns Children's Hospice events manager, Ian Carr, said: “We are so grateful to First Personnel for their sponsorship. Without this funding it would be impossible to stage the event in this way and make it a success.

“The fact that they will also be participating on the day underlines their generous support.”

Starting and finishing by the bandstand in the park, the 10km route will include a visit to the hospice in Selly Oak and return to its starting point via the University of Birmingham which will have its clock tower glowing for the event.

It is hoped the Lantern Walk, which is in its second year, will raise more than £25,000 to boost the vital care and support for children and their families.
