THE Kidderminster Mayor officially opened the new 30-metre zip wire at Borrington Road play area last weekend.

Councillor Mike Price cut the ribbon declaring the zip wire open in true style by testing out the new equipment followed swiftly by Cllr Rose Bishop and Cllr Fran Oborski, members of the Offmore and Comberton Action Group (OCAG) and local MP, Mark Garnier.

OCAG secured part funding for this new equipment, with the remainder being met by Oakleaf Ground Services. The zip wire finishes off an already highly equipped park that includes a multi sports facility, BMX track, young children’s play area, dog walking area and skateboard park.

Rose Bishop, of OCAG, said: “The zip wire is part of an initiative to create facilities to benefit the local children. We have tried to create an area within the community where children can go and play outside that will suit older children as well.

“It is a great move forward for the area. A special thanks also goes to Mike Screen and all the TCHG Neighbourhood Wardens for their hard work in helping to make this happen.”

Claire Sawyer, contracts manager at Oakleaf, said: “Oakleaf Ground Services are proud to support OCAG with this community funded project, both financially and through project management. It was a pleasure to see the park so well used by adults and children of all ages.”
