WYRE Forest Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is encouraging men to take extra care of themselves during the winter months not ignore concerns about their health.

Men’s health has been highlighted throughout November due to the national Movember campaign, with thousands growing a moustache to help raise awareness of men’s health issues.

However, the group are urging men to do more to limit the cases of sore throats, chesty coughs and general illness.

Dr Simon Rumley, chairman and clinical lead for NHS Wyre Forest CCG, said: “Many of us will get a viral infection from time to time.

“It is important to get plenty of rest, drink plenty of fluids and take regular paracetamol. If you need advice, then visit your local pharmacy.

“Remember antibiotics don’t work for viral infections, so your GP practice is unlikely to prescribe one even if you ask for it.

“Please don't visit the A&E department for a viral infection, only attend if your problem is an emergency.”
