BEWDLEY care home resident celebrated her 104th birthday with a special tea party with her fellow residents.

Violet Jackson turned 104 on Sunday, November 9. Her family and friends joined her on the morning to celebrate, and then a birthday tea, with a special birthday cake, was held in the evening with all the residents and staff at Hernes Nest House Residential Home in Bewdley.

The care home staff decorated her room and the home with balloons and birthday banners.

Veronica Pereira, deputy manager at Hernes Nest House, said: “Violet had a lovely time, she was very pleased to have such a fuss made for her birthday.

“We always celebrate every residents birthday in the home.

“We have a party for them and a birthday cake so they can blow out their candles.”

Mrs Jackson was born on November 9, 1910 in London. She used to work in her father’s shop, where she did decorative leather craft. She was very active in her younger life and used to enjoy playing tennis, going swimming and playing the piano. She became an organist with her local Methodist church.

She married her husband and father to her two daughters, Jack, in 1934.

Violet moved to Kidderminster in 2002 to live with her daughter.
