MORE than 100 soldiers will be taking part in a freedom parade through Kidderminster this weekend.

The 2nd Battalion of the Mercian Regiment will be exercising its Right of Freedom in the town on Sunday, November 30. Around 120 soldiers are expected to parade through the town, leaving the bus station in Weavers Wharf at 12pm. A salute will be taken outside the Town Hall by the civic party.

Kidderminster residents are being encouraged to visit the town on Sunday to support the Regiment.

After leaving the bus station at 12, the route will see the parade go right on to Corporation Street along Tesco’s petrol station before turning left on to New Road. They will continue left on to Bridge Street, left on to Oxford Street and before heading towards the town centre.

They will then pass the Town Hall, where dignitaries will take the salute. The parade will then continue along Vicar Street to the Bull Ring Island, go around the island and then back along Vicar Street.

It will then turn right into Weavers Wharf, alongside the Town Hall, before going across the Husum Bridge over the river. The parade will finish by Debenhams.
