FOR the last few days, Severn Trent have been doing some work to repair a damaged sewer pipe at Birmingham Road, Kidderminster (DY10 2BY).

They are currently working in the road and have one lane closed with traffic lights to control the flow of traffic.

A spokesman from Severn Trent said: "To get at the pipe, we are having to do dig down in the road and in doing so we have discovered a lot of concrete. The layer of concrete is wider than we first thought and to dig safely and get around it, we're going to have to move our work to the other side of the road.

"Unfortunately, this means that from tomorrow morning (Friday, November 28), around 9.30am, we're going to have to close the road entirely while we move our work. We understand that this is a major route into Kidderminster, and we know it'll cause a lot of disruption and inconvenience, but to stop sewage from escaping into the area, we do need to get on and fix the pipe as quickly and safely as possible.

"Our teams will work hard to get to the other side of the road reopened as soon as possible, but at the moment we expect that to be the end of the week. If we can do it any quicker, we will of course try to do so.

"We'd like to apologise to anyone who will be inconvenienced by this work. We're doing everything we can to get the pipe fixed and things back to normal as quickly as possible."
